(More customer reviews)I bought this product because its measurements were given clearly on the web page, and it fit my computer screen perfectly. I at first thought that the anti-glare would be a nice bonus, but now I'm not sure if I really need it; I don't use my computer outside. The screen appears slightly grainier with the protector on --- because of the anti-glare I think --- but it's not an issue at all; I can only tell when I look for it. My brother didn't even notice that the screen had a protector on it until I told him a couple of days later.
One thing to note when applying this product: you should really take time to put it on. It's very important that the screen is clean and free from dust. Also, I would recommend that you only remove the film covering the glue in small pieces when you're sure that the underlying part of the screen is clear. I made the mistake of aligning the screen protector, and then hastily removing all of the film at once. It doesn't take much dust under the screen to cause an air bubble, so I had to peel off the protector and use tape to get pieces of dust out (the protector leaves no residue, by the way). Since the protector was sticky, it would catch dust while I held it off the screen, and the process seemed to be much more difficult and irritating than it had to be. It took me an hour of peeling back, using tape to remove dust, and slowly smoothing the protector on with the help of a credit card before I removed almost all of the air bubbles (there are still two small, barely noticeable dust-caused air bubbles, but it's good enough, and I was tired of it). All this because I rushed the process at first. So, take your time on the first application, and take advantage of the film covering the glue. Then, you can leave the protector on for the screen's lifetime!
Another thing: my screen protector had a small dent in it when I took it out, but I ignored it and put it on anyway. I couldn't smooth the air bubble under the dent, so now there's one air bubble on the screen that I can't get out even if I wanted to. You should make sure that your screen protector is free of dents and the like before putting it on --- air bubbles come easy.
Air bubbles aren't the end of the world, though. They appear kind of like small smudges on the screen when it's on, so I usually don't even notice them. The only time I really see them is when the screen is off and it's black.
Good product. I rest easy now about touching my screen, and closing the laptop lid on the keyboard now. It probably isn't necessary to have a screen protector, but I like the peace of mind.

Also, the cheaper model (T115D-S1120) has a single core 1.6 GHz processor, not a dual core 1.5 GHz processor. This is currently still incorrect on one part of the page.

(More customer reviews)Looked at a number of companies' memory chips and decided to take chance on PNY. I have used their products in the past and been completely satisfied. I purchased this for my 700m (and specifically wanted to mention this since I had a hard time determining the requirements for a 700m). The Dell takes one or two modules up to 1GB each. They don't have to match in size, so I am told, but it is best if they do. I purchased two 1GB modules. Installation was not as easy as expected, but not hard either. The lower memory module is inserted by removing the "M" panel from the bottom of the Inspiron. The upper module requires that you disassemble part of the computer. Again, not as hard as expected. [...] It took me about 20 minutes to install both chips and get the laptop up and running. What a difference! I started with 2 x 256MB and upgraded to 2 x 1GB. Where the laptop churned and churned when I switched users--taking 2-3 minutes to switch--now a user change takes about 10-15 secs.
Should things change after I have had them for a while, I will update this. For the moment, I am very pleased.

I used this to recover a friend's laptop drive, that would not boot. At first, the drive was recognized, automatically, by XP, but I could not view all the folders.
A chkdsk /f took care of the errors, and I was able to view all the folders. Copied a backup to another drive, put the drive back in the laptop, and it booted just fine. BB geeks estimated 600 bucks for repairs.
I did it for about 12!

(More customer reviews)The other reviewer clearly did not do his research before marking it down and 1 star is a little too much don't you think just for the user not doing research? 802.11n ONLY SUPPORTS WPA and above!!! WEP stopped at G as it is a very weak form of security compared to WPA/2 and that is a decision belonging to the WiFi Association.
This is used in an HP Pavilion dv7-1270us upgraded from a 5100. This hooks to my Apple Airport Extreme Base Station the latest revision version 7.4.2. Sadly this only goes upto 300mbps even on the 5GHz band. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate on this machine because I use Spanish and Russian languages on it too.
Power usage:
It uses very little above its sibling 5100 but it does use more nonetheless being that it has a 3rd antenna connection as well. I have noticed that when it is idle, it will trigger it's speed down (on N connections) to conserve some of the battery and when it is on full blast, it will go to the 270-300mbps range. Most of the time when it is idle, it will be around 150-216mbps. It is very smart about power management but that doesn't really apply to me seeing as I have a 17" laptop.
Performance:
With my setup unfortunately, I can't achieve the advertised 450mbps (see setup above). I am only left on 300mbps but it feels more stable compared to the 5100's 5GHz N connection. I do get sustained speeds of 10-12MB/s when copying large files (ISO, HD Video) and for smaller files ~8MB/s - ~10MB/s coming from a Gigabit machine. I have stressed it by streaming 2 1080p videos simultaneously without too many lags in playback. 3x 720p videos came out with similar results. 802.11N by all means isn't meant to get too far of a distance but since I got the third antenna working, I can go 3 rooms apart until it drops a signal bar to 3 from 5. If you must use a far distance connection, G will suit you better but for network related work, N in a closer range works best. Overall one of the best devices you can find out there.
Compatibility:
It works from XP and above and Linux support in more modern distros seems to be in order. For Windows, it supports XP but 802.11N on XP is very flaky and doesn't work as well as Vista and 7. I used the driver from Intel's site as the stock 7 driver is very basic. MyFi only works in Vista and 7 and makes your laptop its own SSID/hotspot which is pretty neat, sorry XP users but why bother beating a dead horse? This is unfortunately tied down to Centrino/Centrino 2 users meaning you must have an Intel machine. I'm not sure of Atom netbook users so please report if such is done. Hackintosh users are out of luck with this and the other siblings 5100 and 1000. Atheros and Broadcom chips are better for Macs and Hackintoshes.
Packaging:
It was packed in a little, easy-to-open clamshell package which wouldn't open too easily as I was scared it would let the 5300 drop. I had to gently open it and while it didn't drop, its better safe than sorry. Nothing too fancy either, ANTOnline shipped it in the mail via USPS in 2 (yes 2) yellow envelopes insides, full of bubble wrap.
I hope I had enough info to provide to other possible buyers, ANTOnline did their job well and shipped it very securely as well. Feel free to leave questions in the comments as well, I might post benchmarks later on if I get enough demand.

The data transfer cable is the best; I was able to transfer files from my old laptop to the new one in less than 20 minutes. Simply unbelieveable! The Mini Hub gave me the USB port extensions I needed while working with multiple USB products (webcam, camera, printer, etc.). I haven't gotten around to using the retractable, laser mouse since I'm using the touchpad. The only negative I have and it's minor, is I wish the carrying case had a little more room so I can add my webcam and microphone without fear of scratching my laptop surface. Other than that, I'm very, very pleased with my starter bundle.

(More customer reviews)My 10" Acer netbook proved too small for me, so I went looking for a full size keyboard and larger screen but without sacrificing long (5-6 hr) battery life and light weight. Nevertheless, I was considering the Dell Inspiron 14" Intel i3 notebook, which has received some great reviews, but it only promises 3 hrs on the battery and will deliver even less as the battery degrades, so I chose this ultrathin Toshiba instead, which also happens to be a bit lighter. I was biased toward an Intel processor, but the AMD chip performs fine for me. Boot to login takes me 45sec and another 15sec for login/full software loading. (If you really want an Intel i3 chip in this model, the new Toshiba T235-S1350 comes with one at a higher cost.) Screen quality is great (with the screen tilted slightly back for best results), and Windows 7 is a big improvement over previous versions, making it easy to set up a home network, connect wireless, connect to a projector, or plug in new devices (drivers are loaded automatically), etc.
I like the keyboard, though if you're going to write your next novel on this notebook, you should test drive it first at a local store to see if you're comfortable with the flat keys. Also, remember, this model stays light by losing the DVD drive, so if this is important to you, either get an external one, or check out a different notebook that includes an optical drive. Does the battery really last 6 hrs as advertised for this model? Maybe in "econo" mode, but in "balanced" power mode I'm getting more like 4 to 5 hrs--it's hard to tell because the indicated time remaining on the battery jumps around depending on the application you're using. Having said that, I'm OK with anything north of 4 1/2 for a notebook this size. Because the front of the notebook slopes down, the mouse buttons are not as ergonomically well placed or as large as in some other Toshiba and Dell models, but because you can tap the mouse pad in lieu of clicking, you can work around this. And the mouse pad allows you to scroll down and sideways, which is great.
As with some other Toshiba models, sound quality is not good, partly because the speakers are located on the bottom of the notebook and partly because the speakers can't effectively reproduce bass notes. (I tried updating the sound drivers to see if that would help, but I appear to already have the latest drivers installed.) By using headphones and setting sound reproduction to the highest sampling rate, however, the sound quality is incredibly good, better than anything else I have at home (mp3 player, stereo, etc.). The cooling fans are placed on the sides and together with a less power hungry processor ensure that this model does not overheat your lap (unlike my niece's earlier Satellite model which can practically bake cookies.) This is also a beautifully designed laptop.
Pros: lightweight, great screen, beautiful design, long battery life, good processing performance and adequate keyboard/screen size. Cons: speakers, mouse buttons, and coming up a little short on advertised battery life. My overall rating is a 4+.

(More customer reviews)As the battery has been functioning for a couple days, this initial report is not a service assessment; however performance so far has been nominal. I am fully satisfied with the fit and function. Fit for this battery is essential because it clicks onto clamp points and a retainer lock to become a structural member on the bottom of the laptop case: this worked perfectly. The color and shape is an identical match for the factory original material.
I was a little concerned with the delivered condition, as there was an odd odor in the package. The case was sticky and had to be peeled out of the shipping envelope material. All this was easily fixed with a damp sponge, and all is good now!
This is not the first time I have used a laptop replacement battery, and the instructions were cursory. The included documentation addressed battery handling and safety. No information was provided regarding initial charging or battery conditioning or battery charge / discharge performance. Newbies should obtain this information from other sources.

I had a Palm and loved it.
I had a Blackberry and loved it.
I had a Jornada 565 and loved it.
I bought the e740, and well... I hate it.
It was reassuring to read these on-line reviews, because it appears that everyone has the same problems that I do.
The sad thing is, at this point in time, there is no competition for the device. None.
If you want built-in Wifi, 64 megs RAM, and room for extra memory (SD card) AND have a free CF slot for GPS, Modem, etc., this unit delivers.
BUT what terrible design!
It's akin to a prototype that is not ready to be manufactured.
Some examples:
Battery Life - One hour of wireless surfing! Terrible. This is a joke. It's so easy to run out of juice, even without wireless.
Speaker - Worst of any Pocket PC I've seen.
ActiveSync - Drops connections. Very disappointing. I've had more dropped connections in 1 week than in 2 years with my other PocketPCs.
Built-in features - Severely lacking. Look at the Jornada.. you could program each button to do different things when they are held down for three seconds, and other such goodies. Not here.
Fragility - Really bad. EVERY other PDA nowadays has some form of screen protector. Not this. It's only matter of time before something nasty happens.
Ergonomics - Hard to hold. Not very comfortable. What a bizarre design. Awkward.
Speed - VERY disappointing. Movies played FLAWLESSLY on my 565. They have TONS of dropped frames on the e740. So much for the 400MHz CPU!
CF Card - Seems to be slower than the old Pocket PC's. Also a huge pain to insert. You actually need the stylus!! What's with that?
Record button - BEWARE! As a volunteer ambulance tech, I keep this unit on my belt in a case, next to my cell phone. I went to use it midway through my 6 hour shift to write some patient info, and... the battery was DEAD! Reason? That darn record button kept getting hit on my belt. There is no way to disable it. I spoke to Toshiba today.
Software stability - None. Seems like I'm always doing a hard reset for one reason or another.
Screen - Not as bright as the others, and not uniform. Look closely at night. There is noticeable half-inch vertical striping.
Did I mention the Record button draining the batteries?
So, my bottom line advice to those people looking to buy a PocketPC.......:
If you NEED one now, go for it. However, you WILL be annoyed. You WILL envy your friends who buy one 5 months from now. You WILL agree with me that this is a work-in progress. But, like I said, there is simply no competition when it comes to two card slots and Wi-Fi.
If you already have a working device - Please wait!! Please! I HAD to buy this one because I sold my Jornada. So I am pretty much stuck with this annoying Toshiba. But if you have a trusty Palm or Ipaq or Jornada.. W A I T ! Don't run out and but this flawed unit! Wait for "version 2.0"!!

i got a laptop battery that doesnt fit 100% due to it being some chinese knockoff cheap battery. after leaving bad feedback for the seller i receive DAILY emails begging to have the feedback changed to positive. which i wont do. i had to cuss them out in hopes of no more drama. the battery defect prevents it from charging correctly leaving my laptop is a situation where it can power off for no reason due to the looseness of this cheap battery.
also this is a 6 cell not a 9 cell battery as advertised.
i would honestly spend more money and get one from the toshiba direct next time. big mistake trying to save $50. sadly a lesson hard earned for me.
all in all use caution. try to at least buy from AMAZON as the seller to know your more backed up then a 3rd party seller who can rip u off and sell broken items.
P.S. i hope the seller doesnt flood me with spam asking to remove my review. ill be expecting that soon i bet.

(More customer reviews)When my original Toshiba battery went out I got this because it was a lot cheaper than the Toshiba brand replacement. Well, you get what you pay for. While it enables me to use my computer (my battery was totally dead), it doesn't hold a charge for long. It only lasts about an hour before I need to recharge it compared to the Toshiba brand that lasted several hours before needing to be recharged. If you just can't dish out the dough for the real thing then this will suffice for the time being but if you're trying to find a great deal you're better off paying the extra cash for a better battery.

It was worse when Toshiba baited me to send it in with the expectation of repair and then refused warranty coverage. But it was worst when Toshiba quoted me a repair price of $325, i.e., more than it is selling new laptops for, $100 more than local service and, it seems, $200 more than the part retails for. To quote another similar review with the same problem: "Toshiba--never again."

(More customer reviews)This is my backup battery for my notebook. I was debating if I should get a 6 cell battery or a 9 cell battery since I already have a 9 cell. I eventually goes for the 9 cell after considering the price vs weight vs sustained time. The little extra weight does not bother me, the price difference is small, but the sustained time gain (2+ hrs for 6 cell vs 3.5+ hrs for the 9 cell) is more appealing to me. So for my purpose, the 9 cell is more suitable.
The battery itself performs as expected (similar to the one I already have) and no surprises. The delivery is faster than I expected. Overall, this particular buying experience is very good.

I gave it a quick try with a 1GB SD card, it works fine on Linux (openSuse 11.2). I'm happy with this purchase, it's the best 99 cents I ever spent. Even with the shipping charge, it was about $5. I have used this mouse a lot and it is still on its original battery. It works like any mouse wired to the PC. It has a energy saving feature turning itself off if not used for a few minutes. (Just click either button to turn it back on.) Also, there is a power switch on the bottom. This mouse has already been to Korea and back. Small, light, no cables, no USB dongle--everything you could want.

Then the next couple of times I wanted to use it I tried all sorts of things and once in a while it would activate properly and connect to my computer (Windows 7 and OSX 10.5). It was too much hassle, getting it to work required voodoo that I never did understand. I haven't thrown it away yet, hazardous waste and all, but I did buy something that actually works from a store locally. Even though it was only a buck or so, it was still wasted money and even more wasted time; I would have been better off spending 20 times as much and getting something that just worked.

All the bells and whistles as per the specifications including a backlit keyboard (which was really the selling point for me). Only problem and I mean the ONLY problem for me is the click/touch pad... to click on an item and/or drag and drop is kind of cumbersome to execute...the click part of the pad feels a bit stiff or too far down from tyhe location I'm used to it being in on other laptops...but I figure I'll get used to it after a while. What I think would have been great to just make this the ideal compact and economical merge of hardware vs. price would be integrated bluetooth. But no sweat for me I already had an IOgear bluetooth dongle to connect....Again, awesome laptop!

Toshiba e355 Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003 Review

(More customer reviews)This was my first PDA purchase and after much soul searching I settled for the Windows Mobile PC platform. I am certain that I made the right choice despite the comments by those who believe that Windows Mobile has a long way to go aginst Palm OS.
The choice fell between Toshiba e355 and iPaq 1935 both selling for $ 199.00. I opted for Toshiba e355 since iPaq was offering a measly 90 day warranty! Granted iPaq 1935 is perhaps more compact and smaller than Toshiba e355 but the performance of Toshiba rocks and I have no regrets. Both my PDA and Windows Mobile 2003 have worked flawlessly and has been very stable till now!
I do not know why everyone is complaining of absence of CF card slot when price differential between CF card and SD card has narrowed considerably. I got a SanDisk 256 Mb SD card for 59.00 after rebates only slightly more expensive compared to comparable CF Cards!
What can I say about Toshiba e355? Performance is impeccable. Very stable and so far reliable. I have added a few software, FlexWallet and ACDSee Mobile and both work flawlessly! I have transferred my address book from Outlook and few other data including several photo images from my desktop using Active Sync and everything is working well.
The only complaint I have is about the non removable battery. However I am fairly certain that in about three years time, I will be upgrading this PDA and I am not overly concerned about the battery replacement issue!
I have no hesitation in recommending Toshiba e355 to those who are looking for a base level PDA but do not intend to carry it in their shirt pockets (iPaq 1935 is more appropriate!)

I have not had a moment's trouble out of either one of them.
If I needed other flash drives I would seriously conbsider Toshiba to be in the same class as Lexar but half the price.
I have an Acer Aspire One netbook, and I use these several times a week to make copies of my assorted data. Never once has Windows XP failed to recognise the drives.
The other reviewer either got a bad one OR he needs to download a USB driver so he can use the flash drive on the old computer
I do have one small complaint about the flash drives. They seem to be S-L-O-W in writing files to the flash drive. but reading the files on the flash drives are quick

(More customer reviews)I bought this adapter to replace another one I was disappointed with due to speed issues, and all around I'm happy with it - it allows me to put to good use the SDHC cards I bought for the Canon 450D after I've upgraded it to a Canon 5D mark II.
Putting a SanDisk 16GB Extreme III 30MB/s Class 10 card, I can shoot video at 1920x1080 @ 25fps for as long as I want. Copying a big file on my computer to the card, I got ~78x. Shooting in continuous mode gives good speed for large fine JPEGs, but for raws w/o JPEGs the speed drops below usable rate once the buffer is full.
A small annoyance, which I guess is unavoidable with the SDHC & CF form factors, is that the SDHC card is inserted 90 degrees to the direction in which the adapter is inserted into the camera. That means replacing an SDHC card requires taking out the CF adapter first.
Do note this is CF Type II, so is 5mm thick. To be on the safe side, make sure your camera accepts CF Type II, and your card readers accepts either CF Type II or SD.

(More customer reviews)The battery was purchased over an year ago for my old toshiba..i moved on from it but it did do what it is meant to do..extended my portability because my old battery was fried and i wasn't able to surf on the go for more than 10 minutes(with my old one).The new one lasts me a little over 150 minutes when surfing and around 100 minutes when watching a movie..I am not a gamer so i can't tell you anything about that.The original battery was performing better when i bought the laptop but the price i paid(around 72 dollars if i remember correctly,it was over an year ago) it was the best viable choice.The Amazon delivery (free) was great, i got it 3 days later at a US address(5 stars for that).Only 4 stars though because I am pretty demanding and i rarely give 5.It is a good battery that will extend your mobility.

(More customer reviews)The clear mCover was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered one for my new dell mini10 to protect it's casing from scratches and bumps.
It was easy to put on,it even fit snugly over my decalgirl skin.You can't see in the pics that there is an inch wide matte/frosted frame around the edge of the top cover the rest is crystal clear, not a big deal to me, but I was a little surprised. The cover is made of reasonably thick rigid plastic, it clicks on with 4 tabs on each piece. It doesn't interfere with the battery, although you'll need to remove the battery to attatch the bottom piece,then just replace it. It has plenty of vent slots to prevent over heating, this was a huge concern for me and has not proven to be an issue so far.
Overall, if you're looking to protect your laptop just like you do your iPod, this shell does the job.

Unfortunately, although it fits in the slot, it sticks out about 1/8 inch all the way around the bottom. So technically it will work with the laptop but it doesn't fit flush like the original battery. I'll probably keep it because my original battery no longer held a charge but just wanted to get the word out there in case anyone else is looking at purchasing the replacement battery.

I do not know who has pockets that big--unless you're old enough to remember Captain Kangaroo--you haven't seen any that size. Also, there is no mention that it requires two USB ports. Additionally, the open/close mechanism is not smooth. I would not have bought this item had I seen it beforehand. There are too many other choices. I bought it because I have the notebook it mentions in the title; but any other would have worked as well, I'm sure. Look elsewhere.

I picked up one of these a couple of weeks ago. The concept of a good ruggedized portable USB hard drive for the consumer market is LONG overdue. The 500GB SimpleTough worked fine the first few times I used it, plugging the fold out USB ribbon cable into a laptop or desktop...everything seemed ok and it worked like a champ...and was faster than any other external USB drive of its size that I've ever used. Now all of a sudden I start getting "Device Not Recognized", no matter what laptop or desktop, USB port, or even USB hub (powered) that I plugged it into, and regardless of OS (using XP or Vista). After several iterations of patiently unplugging it, letting it spin down for a minute, then plugging it back in...still not recognized. So during my last attempt I was going to give up, box it back up and return it...I started to reach to unplug the drive and lifted it up off of my desk a little bit...and suddenly...it WORKED and my system recognized it. So I tried the theory, I unplugged it again, let it sit, plugged it back in while it was sitting flat...didn't work...then as soon as I elevated it to about a 45 degree angle off my desk it was recognized and worked again. Diagnosis...bad USB ribbon cable, and bad workmanship. I have treated this drive with kid gloves and it never got any kind of abuse, period. The drive may be ruggedized, but clearly the ribbon cable is a serious Achilles heel. I can't say all of these drives are bad since it was just this one, but if you buy one of these KEEP YOUR RECEIPT AND ORIGINAL PACKAGING...it may end up like mine did. I am probably going to get a replacement, if I do...I'll update this review good or bad based on what happens. For now, it's definitely a 1 star (0 star) product in my opinion.

...got a replacement SimpleTough 500GB, so far it is working great...time will tell, and I will update this review with any good or bad news soon. I would have given this product at least 3 stars for the fact my replacement works fine, but Amazon...why do you allow people to edit reviews and not change the star rating if their opinion has changed? The stars are the first (and sometimes only) thing people look at...

***FAIL*** THIS IS GARBAGE. After being used for very light duty (probably have copied about 100GB+ data to it that was read statically off and on afterwards, not much writing/deleting after that), and being treated like a fine piece of delicate glass artwork for a few months, the USB cable on my replacement is dead too. But if I gently tilt the unit to a 45 degree angle, magically the USB cable works...just don't bump it or it disconnects. This is ridiculous especially in this day and age where portable hard drive technology is MATURE AND WELL ESTABLISHED.
- Tried emailing Hitachi about this issue, no response.

12/7/09 - Opened support case with Hitachi's Storage support (aka their SimpleTech division)

HITACHI - *RECALL* THESE DRIVES before someone forces you to do so legally. You rip off consumers and expect to be rewarded with continuing business? I am never recommending anything made by Hitachi to anyone. A little business common sense 101, you fix product quality problems instead of ignoring them, letting them worsen, and eat at your bottom line. I predict Hitachi will not have an external storage business at this rate, and will spin SimpleTech back off as an "unprofitable" venture. Quality is an investment that pays back one hundred fold.
2/8/10 - UPDATE - HITACHI, YOU NEED TO REPLACE THESE DRIVES. After this unit failed, like 99.9% of them do, I decided to see if I could fix the problem. I opened up the case by cracking off the side panels and prying the top from the bottom after removing the case screws and then the screws securing the drive to the plastic enclosure. What you have inside is a HACK JOB of USB cable splicing onto a HD-2523 v1.2 USB header (wafer) board...and the cable is hanging on literally by a THREAD. You have 2 black cables, one of which is twisted into the sheathing filament wire and is literally hanging by a thread...then the other green, white, and red wires are very badly crimped near the connection to the USB board...almost to the point where they are severed). THAT is why when this unit fails, you have to angle it at 45 degrees up or down, or flip it over and plug it upside down into say a USB 2.0 hub - but eventually the delicate wiring will snap in half internally. You basically have 5$ worth of cheap plastic, rubber, and electronic parts, attached to a Hitachi 500GB 5400RPM drive (model# HTS545050B9A300 / part# A57915) which is worth about $45.00 at mfr cost. This unit is worth about $50-60 TOPS leaving the factory...and the 500GB models were originally sold for nearly $200.00!!!! The markup isn't as much of a shocker as is the dirt poor quality of this unit. I am trying to see if I can find or cobble together another USB enclosure or wafer board/USB cable combo compatible with this drive, or...try to find someone with a laptop that could take this drive and at least get the data off of it.

UPDATE 2/11 - SAVE YOUR DRIVE! If you have fallen victim to the poor quality of this unit, don't throw it away or give up hope yet. I'm going to explain how to quickly extract that hard drive from the Hitachi enclosure, and put the drive into another 2.5" enclosure that works flawlessly. To remove the small 2.5" hard drive from the case, snap off the black side panels (yes there will be tiny little pieces of plastic broken off - who cares at this point). You will have to use some force, don't be shy about it. Now remove the case screws, open the case, then remove the screws inside the case that secure the drive. If you have to or want to cut the stupid black ribbed USB ribbon cable protruding outside the drive enclosure, go ahead...it won't matter later because you are going to be using a different drive enclosure later. Save the screws if you work on computers, they can be handy for something else. You will see a green USB wafer board attached to the little 2.5" Hitachi hard drive inside. If it looks scary to you, don't be scared. It's just a standard 500GB 2.5" laptop hard drive plugged into a wafer board, nothing fancy or permanent about it. You will see where the hard drive is attached to this board...it is NOT glued or soldered on don't worry, the hard drive is just plugged in to that USB wafer board...that's all. Gently pull back on the hard drive and it will come free from the green USB wafer board. Now put the 2.5" Hitachi hard drive in a safe place. Now go buy or order a 2.5" drive enclosure that is compatible with this drive (far as drive size 2.5", and it is for SATA spec...preferably one that supports at least USB 2.0, or optionally eSATA). You can use any you want, but I HIGHLY recommend the Acomdata 2.5" USB/eSATA hard drive enclosure sold at Amazon here: Acomdata Tango USB 2.0/eSATA 2.5-inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001XHBNN2/ref=oss_product) - FOR $19.99! Using that enclosure it took me 5 minutes to install my hard drive into that case and get it running with the included USB 2.0 cable. You probably spent more than $100.00 on this Simpletough drive, $19.99 and 5-10 minutes of effort to get the use of your hard drive back isn't much to ask. When you get the new enclosure, you do nothing but follow the directions that come with that enclosure to install and power on your Hitachi hard drive, in its new home. This is the last entry I am typing on this item, and I REALLY REALLY hope Hitachi gets their act together. Reminds me of Toyota...Hitachi sees poor quality and the consequences of it (all this Amazon and other site's feedback is publicly viewable! I am also sure sales have fallen off for external Hitachi storage products in the past couple years, but yet the company sticks its head in the sand hoping it will all go away. You can NEVER put a value on quality, it is priceless!

(More customer reviews)I've had a Dell Latitude D630 for almost 2 years now and there's one key feature that needs to be pointed out first. It's solid. Although I've never dropped it, it has been through a lot. It's very difficult to warp the LCD screen by applying pressure to the back of the display, and the screen is recessed a fair bit from the outside edges. I've seen quite a few people crack their screens but you'd have to try pretty hard to break this one. At first glance it appears thin, plastic, and flimsy; but when you pick it up and hold it you can tell there is a strong network of metal bracings underneath the surface.
When I bought mine brand new from Dell, quite a few technical things went wrong. First the touchpad never worked well out of the box. It skips, freezes and stops working intermittently. I understand this is a big problem with Dell laptops. The other joystick style mouse works well, but after a year started occasionally drifting to the top right of my screen at slow speed so I had to disable it. I usually use an external mouse anyway. After having the laptop for about a year, a section of the motherboard fried and the computer kept giving me video driver errors, but after I called Dell they politely came to my home and swapped the defective part free of charge. I play my fair share of PC games and this thing gets hot. Sometimes the bottom of the laptop will become uncomfortable to set on your thighs so I'm not surprised the board burned out. It's important to note that this machine only gets hot when it's running a video game. It usually runs at normal temperatures doing everything else. I invested in a fan cooling pad which does a good job keeping it cool.
Other than the mouse and heat issues, it's a good machine. It's a nicely sized laptop as well. Personally I feel like it's not too big or too small.

When I saw the photo first time, I though the laptop was suppose to go to the big compartment, but this bag actually has the laptop compartment attached to the tote outside. And that's where the laptop goes.
Another words, it's a big tote bag with attached laptop compartment on the outsie.
That means all that tote compartment is for you to put whatever you want to put inside to carry with your laptop.
It can be your wallet, folders and documents, books, phone and phone charger, Laptop accesories like power cable, headphones, webcams... it can hold quite a bit. Even change of clothe. It has lots of room!
I have a webcam, and am considering purchasing a headset too, so I was looking for a laptop bag that can carry all those items and not squish them. This bag is exactly what I was looking for.
it also has zipper storages on outside of the tote, as well as inside the tote (pictured on top. it's on the ohter side of airshell.).
laptop part is pretty snug for my laptop, but I guess mine is little bit bigger than standard laptop or something? I do not remember the exact dimention of my own laptop. It fits in there fine though. I am happy with it.
I have not actually weighed it, but it is heavier than I expected. It's nothign ridiculous. I am still very happy with the bag though.
But if you are looking for something you just slip your laptop in, and do not really need all those extra storages, you might be happier with smaller, light weight laptop tote.
In case you are wondering why I am not giving 5 star, it's because of the weight being heavier than I expected.
But if you are looking for a laptop tote that holds lots of items, I don't think you will be dissapointed with this one.

It came in a charming box with terrible english with phrases such as "Lets make it more perfect!" and "multi-media keys to master the voice and image". I almost want to frame it. The KB makes a nice pleasant sound when you type, all the multimedia keys worked immediately without the need to install any additional drivers. Overall I am pleased with the KB.

And the product stench was almost unbearable. Might be the oil on the metals, or the plastic cable coating. Had to put it away for a few days to air out. The list price shown of $25.99 with a $21 discount only makes it LOOK like a good deal. When HDE read my feedback, they offered to try to improve my situation. I declined the offer, since I wrote a truthful feedback and feel compelled to stay with it.

It will give absolutely "NO" protection to your laptop. It has an extremely flimsy mechanism. There was a $6 shipping fee. You might as well take $12 and throw it in the garbage. I wasted my money, don't waste yours.

(More customer reviews)The battery seems to do what it is meant to do. It charges up and then it discharges. Unfortunately when I decided to resurrect an old Toshiba Satellite I had I forgot that old laptops such as the Satellite don't work for very long on batteries. A Celeron is a very power hungry CPU compared to the processors of today. So, with a continuous computing session I'll get about 2 hrs of battery life and then I must recharge for about an hour and a half. I'm still in the break-in phase where I like to fully charge a battery and then fully drain it for about 10 times before I'll start to charge it intermittently.
I have noticed two weird things happening but I'm not sure yet if it is battery or laptop related. One, the battery seems to have a drain even when the laptop is totally shut off. I'll fully charge it and let it sit off overnight and it will have lost 10% or more of its power. The other thing is that the only way I can get the laptop to boot up with battery power is to pull out the battery first and then plug it in again. If I don't do that no amount of pressing the On switch will start the computer.
For the small amount of money I paid for the battery it was a worthy experiment but once this battery dies, if the Satellite is still working and I can think of a use for it such as turning it into a print server or something, I'll stick with using the power plug.

I normally charge the battery then use the laptop unplugged with just the battery being used until it needs to be charged again. I do not leave the laptop plugged in overnight or all day. The original battery lasted 2 years until it failed to hold a charge. This battery, now 6 months old, completely discharges in 10 minutes. I will be contacting Lenmar under the warranty.
For the hassle, I should have just paid the premium to Toshiba and bought another OEM battery.
